Red Wine of the Week
Domaine des Pasquiers
Côtes du Rhône Rouge
Normally $15.99 /
Now on Sale for $12.96
75% Grenache, 25% Syrah (Côtes du Rhône AOC)
How It’s Made:
Organically farming in light soils on the edge of the slopes of Sablet, Domaine des Pasquiers removes the stems of these grapes before fermenting them in concrete tanks for 10-15 days. After letting the grapes also go through malolactic fermentation, they age the wine for three months before bottling.
Why We Like It:
This red is a clean, light-bodied Côtes du Rhône that is a great fall wine — the perfect bridge between the chillable reds you’ve been drinking this summer and the heavier reds to come.
White Wine of the Week
La Clarine Farm
Chardonnay
Normally $30.99 /
Now on Sale for $19.96
100% Chardonnay (Sierra Foothills AVA)
How It’s Made:
Hank Beckmeyer and his wife Caroline Hoel of La Clarine Farm pull the grapes for this Chardonnay from Matthew Rorick’s (of Forlon Hope Wines) limestone biodynamic vineyard. They let the wine sit on its lees for 10 months, allowing it to go through full malolactic fermentation before bottling it unfined and unfiltered.
Why We Like It:
You can really taste the effect of that full malolactic fermentation here. This Chard has the roundness of an oaked Chardonnay with no oak used at all. There’s a hint of acidity on the finish to keep the wine refreshing. A pure pleaser, even the Chardonnay hater on our staff likes this one.
Beer of the Week
Wayfinder
Flower in the Kettle
Normally $19.99 /
Now on Sale for $17.96 (16.9 oz can four-pack)
New England Style IPA (7.0% ABV)
How It’s Made:
Portland, Oregon’s Wayfinder Beer makes this almost opaque hazy with Mosaic, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops.
Why We Like It:
This beer is about balance between two strong forces. On one side, we have the grapefruit from the Amarillo and Simcoe, and, on the other side, the juiciness from “bucketloads” of Mosaic hops. It’s a big flavor beer whose two sides keep either one from knocking you out.
