French Owned, Chilean Made!
The Récapets were a family of millers in Saint-Émilion, in Bordeaux, who started planting vines as early at 1650. Centuries later, the family moved south to Branne, and in 1858, Jean-François "Léonce" Récapet was born. He would grow up to diversify the family’s holdings. Centuries later, Domaines François Lurton owns over two dozen wineries in France, Spain, Argentina, and Chile.
Hacienda Araucano in central Chile’s Colchagua Valley is a Lurton property. Brothers François and Jacques Lurton have been making wine in Chile since 1992, but it wasn’t until 2000 that they found “the perfect spot” outside of Lolol and named their winery after the Araucanian people — one of the larger groups of indigenous South Americans.
This Thursday, we have a special wine tasting with guest pourer Adrien Granel, brand ambassador for Hacienda Araucano. We tried their wines last week, and we hope you’re as pleased with them a we were.
So, no beer tasting this week as we chill with the Franco-Chileans. Please join us any time between 5:00 and 6:30 PM.
