Kara & Matt Richardson opened Ocean State Hops, Rhode Island’s first commercial hop farm, in 2007. In 2014, after supplying hops to breweries and homebrewers, they converted their century old, New England style, post & beam barn into Rhode Island’s first farm brewery — Tilted Farm Brewery. They’re the latest little brewery that we have fallen in love with!

The Little Field starts with a restrained malt body of Pale malt and white wheat malt with “a nice dose” of oats to make things extra hazy. They then hop things with Citra, Idaho 7, and Simcoe hops.

This American Pacific Northwest hop trio provides a multi-textured citrus ride, but right when you think it’s going to take you all the way to the finish, up comes some tangerine notes from the Idaho 7. Usually a lighter malt backbone will let the hops really pop. However Tilted Barn is all about balance, and here it’s just part of the recipe for a cool light-bodied and refreshing brew.
