Campi Valerio Sannazzaro Rosso del Molise
Normally $24.99 / Now on Sale for $17.96
100% Montepulciano (Molise DOC)
Though a relatively young winery, Campi Valerio is steeped in history. Antonio Valerio and his family founded the winery’s current incarnation in 2004. However, the vineyards — in Italy’s Molise region, just north of the commune of San Nazzaro (after which this Montepulciano is named) — go all the way back to the 17th century, when they were owned by Prince Giovanni Pignatelli from one of Italy’s greatest noble families.
The Campi Valerio Sannazzaro is 100% Montepulciano that the Valerios ferment in stainless steel, having it undergo malolactic fermentation in stainless as well before aging it in barrels. The resulting wine presents bold, rich blueberry fruits with a slight touch of leather to balance it out.
Try decanting this wine, if you can, to let it open up.
